Warning Signs | a sign series | on-going

Warning Signs is an on-going project featuring safety signage from everyday life, with scurrilous plays on language which widen the available interpretations of the signs.

Warning Signs wants to infiltrate public space by stealth and bring humour and possibility to a format usually taken up by authority. The project asks us to heed the warning signs which we notice in our own lives and in our minds, that all may not be well or as it seems. It’s a game of taking the too private contemplation and making it too public. It’s a game of putting colloquial language into a formal frame, asking us to question who ‘owns’ language and its deployment.
